Just like your automobiles and homes, you should insure all of your fine jewelry. Getting your jewelry insured is easy, and is some of the cheapest insurance you can buy.
Most home owner’s and renter’s insurance policies contain some jewelry coverage, but it is usually not nearly enough. A separate rider can be added to your policy to cover all of your jewelry.
Step 1: Get appraisals from a qualified jeweler, preferable a gemologist. A gemologist is qualified to accurately identify, grade, and evaluate your diamond and gemstone jewelry.
Step 2: Present a copy of your appraisals to your friendly insurance agent.
Step 3: Relax, with the knowledge that if your jewelry is lost or stolen, you are covered.
